Take Action: AB 191 and AB 290 on the Governor's Desk!
9.16.2013 AB 191 (Bocanegra) and AB 290 (Alejo) have made it through the Legislature and are now on the Governor's desk. Governor Brown has until Sunday, October 13 to sign or veto legislation.
AB 191 Update
On Monday, September 9 AB 191 passed the Senate with a bipartisan vote of 28-10. The amended bill then returned to the Assembly for concurrence and passed with a vote of 48-20.
AB 191 seeks to improve alignment between CalFresh and Medi-Cal to ensure that low-income households with a Medi-Cal recipient are more likely to receive CalFresh nutrition benefits.

AB 290 Update
On Friday, September 6 AB 290 passed the Senate unanimously! The amended bill then returned to the Assembly for concurrence and passed with a vote of 77-0.
AB 290 would add one hour to the Preventive Health and Safety training in order to educate newly-licensed child care providers about the importance of childhood nutrition and the resources available through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
