A Closer Look at LAUSD's New Menu Entrees

Published on Dec 2, 2011 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children

12.2.11 Most, if not all, LAUSD students have had the chance to try the new menu entrees that the district introduced earlier in the school year. While some items have proven to be more popular than others, LAUSD continues its efforts to showcase the new entrees to parents, students and the broader school community.

Walnut Park Elementary, Burbank Middle School, Jefferson High School, Young Oak Kim Academy. What do all these schools have in common? They all, in collaboration with Food Services Division, hosted taste testing sessions for their respective parents and students. Parents and students alike tried a variety of entrees in one sitting and also learned about the district’s comprehensive campaign called “I’m In.” We went to some of the taste testing events and have some pictures to share with you. We also have some closeups of the new dishes.

If you want to host a taste testing session of the new menu items with parents and students at your school contact your school’s cafeteria manager at least 2 weeks in advance. Cafeteria managers are friendlier than you think! Happy taste testing!
