A Message From Sam Karp, CFPA Board President

Published on Sep 22, 2011

Sam Karp PhotoDear Friends,

Ken Hecht, one of our founders and long-time executive director, has decided to leave California Food Policy Advocates to pursue nutrition policy opportunities overseas. After twenty years with CFPA, it is hard to imagine the organization without Ken.

Yet, as Ken told us, CFPA’s current strength and positive prospects make this perhaps the perfect time for him to move on. CFPA is thriving with a dedicated Board, a committed staff, secure funding, a stellar reputation, and important and promising work underway. The CFPA Board wholeheartedly agrees with this assessment and, with much regret, has accepted
Ken’s resignation.

We ask for your help in circulating the job description (below) as broadly as possible and in identifying strong candidates. We plan to make a reasonably speedy decision and expect a new executive director will be in place for a short transition period before Ken leaves, perhaps by the end of the year.

Please contact me with any questions or comments (sam@cfpa.net).

Thank you for your support of CFPA and its work.

Sam Karp
Board President
