Survey Results: Direct Certification with Medicaid

11.17.2017 Direct Certification with Medicaid has made it possible for schools to provide free meals to all students using the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This benefit and others emerged from a survey administered by the California Food Policy Advocates. The survey sheds light on the experiences of California districts with Direct Certification with Medicaid (DC-M), a process which expands districts' ability to automatically enroll eligible students into the school meal program. The survey was administered to district food service representatives from the original 14 districts that participated in the DC-M Demonstration Project. The survey asked about district experiences with training, technical assistance, technology updates as well as opportunities and challenges associated with implementing DC-M.
