One Step Closer to Hunger-Free Preschool and Child Care!

Last week the Assembly Appropriations Committee, chaired by Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez, passed AB 842 out of committee! AB 842 is a state bill authored by Assemblymembers Limón and Eggman that, if passed, would increase access to healthy meals for low-income children in preschool and child care. Thank you for helping us move this important bill passed this major hurdle! Your phone calls, emails, letters of support, and meetings with policymakers all helped. Next, AB 842 will move to the Assembly floor for a full vote before it makes its way to the Senate Education Committee for their consideration. As it moves ahead, AB 842 needs your continued support.

  • No child should go hungry in a California public school, preschool, or child care program.
  • The state supports public schools in serving meals to low-income children, we should also extend support to preschool and child care providers.
