Say No to Pizza in Schools; Become a Parent Advocate

12.19.2011 Like many nutrition advocates, parents have also expressed disappointment with Congress's recent decision to continue counting 2 tablespoons of tomato paste on pizza as a vegetable serving. 

The intent on limiting certain vegetables, like tomato paste and potatoes, under the new school meal standards was to expose students to other types of vegetables that don't get seen that often on school trays.

Rudd 'Roots Parents wants to know what is being served at your child's school. The center also created a useful fact sheet for parents with sample action tips that parents can use to advocate for a broader variety of vegetables at his/her child's school.
