Breakfast in the Classroom is coming to LAUSD

Published on Jan 5, 2012 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children

1.5.2012  CFPA is happy to announce that LAUSD will be piloting some Breakfast in the Classroom programs in 2012.  CFPA’s BreakfastFirst Campaign is a three year initiative to help California’s students reach their full potential and California’s schools maximize available federal resources by strengthening school breakfast programs.

One of the most successful models to increase participation in the School Breakfast Program is to serve it in the classroom after the morning school bell.  With almost 80% of their students eligible for free or reduced priced meals, LAUSD is responding to the need of their customers and providing the most important meal of the day at a time and place most students will have the opportunity to access it.  We applaud their commitment to providing nutritious meals to families in need and look forward to much success.  Link
