AB 292 on Suspense in Assembly Appropriations

Published on Apr 16, 2015 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children, State Legislation

4.16.2015 On Wednesday April 15, AB 292 (Santiago), the Time to Eat bill, was placed on suspense in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. The Committee will take action on the suspense file no later than Friday, May 29. Bills are placed on suspense when assessed to have a fiscal impact. These bills will be heard and voted on at a later hearing. During the interim, CFPA will work with Committee members and staff to ensure the bill’s passage through committee.

AB 292 would help ensure that students have enough time to sit down and eat a nutritious lunch at school – at least 20 minutes after receiving their lunch. The bill emphasizes the crucial role of nutrition in supporting academic achievement and student health.

Take Action: There’s still time to submit a letter in support of AB 292!
