3.26.2015 Yesterday, AB 292 (Santiago) Time to Eat: Lunchtime Supports Learning passed the Assembly Education Committee with a bipartisan vote of 5 – 1.  A great thanks to all of our supporters who submitted letters in support of AB 292 and made it out to the hearing in person.

Supporting testimony was provided by Wendy Siguenza a student health advocate and senior at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles. Wendy emphasized the critical role that school lunch plays in supporting student health and highlighted her role as President of the FAME Health Club which has worked to increase student participation in school lunch and access to more healthful foods. Wendy mentioned that without adequate time to eat lunch the work of the health club would be ineffective. Thanks to Wendy for her excellent testimony.

If you’d like to show your support for AB 292 there’s still time to submit your letter. A sample letter is available. doc

AB 292 would ensure that students across California have adequate time to eat lunch at school. For more information visit CFPA’s AB 292 page.
