AB 1240 Poll Shows Strong Support for Breakfast After the Bell

Published on Apr 9, 2015 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children, State Legislation

4.9.2015 According to a newly released statewide poll, two-thirds of California voters support legislation requiring schools to integrate breakfast into the school day. Support was strong among all voters, regardless of ethnicity, age, gender or geography.

The poll showed that 77 percent of California voters believe what recent academic studies have shown, that school breakfast positively impacts academic achievement. 78 percent said they strongly favored using existing federal funding to ensure that more students start their day with breakfast.

CFPA is sponsoring AB 1240 (Bonta & Thurmond) which would increase access to school breakfast and improve academic achievement statewide by implementing many of the changes strongly supported in this Field Poll.
