Superintendent Torlakson Supports CEP

Published on Jun 5, 2014 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children

6.5.2014 In a memo released last month, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Torlakson, praised education leaders for “ensuring that schools offer more nutritious meals and snacks” and urged leaders to consider implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as a means of “increasing access to these meals and snacks for California’s most vulnerable populations.”  We applaud Superintendent Torlakson’s support of CEP and hope that schools across the state will capitalize on the benefits of CEP in 2014-15. To utilize CEP in 2014-15, schools must submit an application to the California Department of Education by June 30, 2014.
