AB 1872 Passes Out of Assembly Appropriations!

AB 1872 needs your continued support to move off the Assembly Floor. We’ve prepared an AB 1872 Floor Alert. Please e-mail or fax a copy to your Assembly Member by Tuesday (May 29th), as this bill will move to the Assembly floor on Wednesday, May 30th.

Amendments were taken in an effort to emphasize the bill’s intent to promote improved nutrition and set an expectation of well-balanced meals and snacks.

Amendments to AB 1872:

  • Specify that compliance with the meal pattern is a condition of licensure.
  • Further define monitoring and clarify provider compliance.
  • Specify that an allegation of a violation of the CACFP meal pattern would not trigger a special monitoring visit.
  • Specify that the Department can use a bulletin (vs. regulations) to notify providers of subsequent changes to the CACFP meal pattern.
