Sample Comment Letters for CACFP Now Available

4.8.2015 CFPA has developed two sample letters that can be personalized and submitted to USDA when commenting on the proposed Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) meal pattern changes.

The “simple” sample letter is brief and intended for the general public to use as a template for their comments. The “long” sample letter is more detailed and intended for organizations.

In January USDA released a proposed rule to update the CACFP meal pattern to better align it with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This proposal is the first major update of the CACFP meal pattern since the program’s inception in 1968. The general public has until April 15th to submit their comments on the proposed changes.

CFPA has scrutinized the proposed changes, interviewed a variety of stakeholders, and participated in several work groups to better understand the impact and implications of the proposed changes. We hope these sample letters will help you submit comments on a meal pattern that has not seen significant changes in over 40 years.
