Analysis: The CA Impact of Rep. Ryan's Budget Resolution
5.15.2011 Cuts to and restructuring of SNAP funding would harm low-income Californians, as well as state and local economies. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan recently introduced a long-term federal budget plan that was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on April 15, 2011. The Resolution will reach the floor in late May for a vote. While the Resolution is likely â€œdead on arrival,â€ this analysis holds value in discussing the most recent assault on SNAP funding and program structure. As Congress continues work on the development of a federal budget that aims to closes the deficit, advocates should be aware of the potential impacts of similar proposals if reintroduced.
