CFPA Legislative Update
On Monday, August 7 AB 1560 (Fuentes)
Food for Health,
AB 1594 (Eng)
Improving Charter School Nutrition,
and AB 1872 (Alejo)
Improving Child Care Nutrition were
sent to the Senate Appropriations Committee suspense file. CFPA and the author’s
offices will work with Committee staff to alleviate associated costs and improve
the likelihood that these bills will continue to the Senate floor. The Committee
will announce which bills come out of suspense on Thursday, August 16. CFPA will
continue to keep you up to date on the status of these bills and provide more
information regarding next steps as soon as it’s available.

Save-the-Date: Capitol Hearing on Senior
Hunger
On Tuesday, August 14 at 1:30pm the Senate Human Services Committee, chaired by
Senator Liu, and a number of statewide anti-hunger advocates are hosting an
informational hearing on the topic of hunger among California’s senior population.
The hearing will cover the scope of the problem, potential solutions, current
strategies underway, and potential policy efforts to address this issue.
