Today, the Senate Agriculture Committee released its Farm Bill proposal. The proposal severely limits California's ability to fully implement its "Heat and Eat" program. Read the full text of the proposal. link Now both the House of Representatives and Senate have proposals that will damage “Heat and Eat” -- a program what would increase benefits for many CalFresh households and simplify the benefit calculation process for all. Due to estimated costs, the bill was moved into the suspense file. CFPA will continue to work with the author’s office, as well as committee staff to ensure that all possible steps are taken to keep this important bill alive. In this 1-hour special we take a first-hand look at the crisis of childhood hunger in America through the eyes of the parents, children, activists, educators and politicians on the frontlines of the battle.
